Happy New Year

Every year I get a report from WordPress that gives me my stats and breakdowns for the year. It’s occurred to me that these numbers are absolutely not about me but all about you. So, I thought you’d like to know what you’ve been up to when you visit BBB!

All Around The World..

The site had 4,500,000 (approx.) visits (thank you very much!) in 2015. The day that you most like to visit is Monday. On August 16th, you made a new record, with 24,679 visits, mostly to look at Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Palette. Of the 1,225 posts I made in 2015, Make Up Revolution Naked Palette from last January was the most viewed. You have visited from 203 different countries – leading with the UK but US and Germany following closely behind. My top referring sites that bring you to BBB are Twitter, Facebook and Blog Lovin. BBB now houses 7,694 posts (well, I guess now it’s 7,695!) and has been almost 8 years in the making. Now I know where all my time went!

"Jane, it's called a CAMERA..."
“Jane, it’s called a CAMERA…”

I have to say a huge, huge thank you to one individual, Thom Watson at Manface, who deals with all my tech and design stresses with more patience than I think even he knew he possessed (but quite a lot of swearing). He is very much an essential part of #TeamBBB and I’m lucky to have him.

But the biggest thank you of all goes to everyone who pops into BBB, whether regularly or occasionally. I think if you read frequently, you’ll know it’s been a tough year in terms of being able to steer a steady course, and that I’ve really had to question whether I want to continue. I do, but so much more on my own terms. I’ve parted ways with one or two brands in 2015 on the grounds that if there’s nothing good at the back end I don’t want to give fuel to the front end, and I have a feeling there will be a few more goodbyes next year. There are 8,500 beauty brands in the UK. I’m not going to run out, but I am absolutely certain that if brands treat bloggers – any bloggers – as valueless or a sub-standard form of media, then they are not welcome at our party. I care more for integrity than stats. I have also many wonderful brands and their PRs to be grateful to, for their honesty, generosity and willingness to share with BBB readers.

So, anyway, thank you so much for all your support in 2015. I’m blessed for the readers that I have and don’t think for a single second that I don’t know it. I feel truly thankful for all of our conversations across Instagram, Periscope, Twitter, Facebook and here that make me feel like I have friends all over the world. I wish you everything good for 2016.

All that remains for me to do is find the crying-a-bit emoji.

And thank you for all the great content, brilliant heads-ups, razor sharp critiques, fascinating insights into the Big Business side of “Beauty” and quite a few genuine laugh-out-loud funnies!
Reading BBB each evening when I get in from work is an essential and thoroughly enjoyable part of my daily routine 🙂
I know you’ll stay true to your principles, and as you say there are so many brands that will appreciate you properly that cutting loose those that don’t is no terrible loss for you or your audience.
Many thanks for all your hard work, from one of your many very appreciative readers, Jo xx

Thank you Jane for all your hard work and one of the most interesting blogs I’ve found in 2015 – yes I am a newcomer to blogs and as a 50something have found it quite difficult to find ones I can relate to! Have a very Happy New Year and keep up the good work, it’s very much appreciated!

Happy New Year Jane. Are you going to do a review of the best products of 2015 ?

Hehe love it Jane Like how you’ve put other peeps first rather than about the ‘blog and blogging’ itself (you know what I mean) Some peeps think it’s easy but I feel it’s important to take the time out to research and give an honest opinion. It shows credibility and honesty towards the brand. Thank you for being such a fab blog role model! Can’t wait to see you in 2016! Happy New Year Jane X

  14. I am sure myself and many others are so greatful for all the hard work you put into your blog. Your blog is always the first place I go to if I want to get an honest opinion on a product. You work so hard to produce your blog and you should be very proud of the amount of people that visit it each and everyday.
I look forward to following your blog for many more years to come.
Happy new year and all the best to you and your family.

Happy New Year Jane! Thank you for your uncompromising honesty. It makes BBB my favourite blog, because I can rely on you to tell things entirely from your point of view without distortion. It’s a strength I never find in ‘popular’ blogs – I often find I have to go to tiny little blogs that haven’t made it yet to encounter the same genuine opinions. I really appreciate the foundation you’ve built this blog on.

Happy new year Jane! I read your blog every day – often when I get home from a busy day at work. I sit on the couch with a cuppa and relax with you. I always scan how many posts are up before I start and feel stupidly excited when it’s 2+! Do keep on keeping on – walk away from the brands that bug you…there will be plenty of brands lining up in their place.

    Much love from Sydney x

Thank you so much for all your hard work, Jane. I sincerely hope you will continue making your own choices. That’s what makes your blog (and your Periscopes, love those!) stand out from the crowd for me. And that is why I will keep reading every post you write. Happy New Year!

Your interview with Sali Hughues brought me to your website 🙂 thanks for all the great content, I hope you’ll be having a wonderful year !

thank you jane for all the wonderful content you bring to us. I feel your pain when you sometimes wonder whether you want to keep going or not! I run a one woman business and sometimes it’s the sheer loneliness of having to make every single decision on my own that makes me want to pack it in after 19 years. At the end of the day though, its YOUR blog and it is YOUR decision how you want to run it. whoever comes and goes in the blog world, I think your site will always have a place on the internet. xx
