The very obvious thing about the Guerlain My Super Tips collection of five problem/solution products is the size. A 15ml lip balm or an on-the-go spot treatment is a perfect size, but very skimpy for a glow maker or skin balm. But all of the collection comes in at exactly the same size and exactly the same price. I’ve given three of the products a go but can’t help giving a side-eye to this very odd pricing structure.
All of the products I’ve tried work really well – other than the size, I have no complaints at all, but the one that goes above and beyond is the Instant Radiance & Tightening (more for the radiance than the tightening).
This gives a whole lot of radiance – a beautiful skin sheen even when it’s sunk in and it works nicely on bare skin or under foundation. The level of coverage of foundation plays a part – the heavier it is the less you’ll get the radiance effect so if you’re opting for lighter coverage, the product is more giving. I’d even think about mixing this with a heavier coverage foundation to get a mid-point and keep the glow benefit.
The Lip Hero is beautifully nourishing – Guerlain has gone a bit fancy with the scent (“bergamot candy, a little madeleine” – an exact quote) but it does feel nourising with a glossy effect. As far as the Soothing Comfort Balm goes, it is also fragranced so I don’t think you can think of this as a product for sensitive skin – it’s more for when the wind has whipped all of the moisture from your face or you’ve had too much sun, but I did find it felt soothing on my skin.
I can’t really tell how this range is going to go – perfect little holiday sizes but at £20a pop, or £100 for all five I think I won’t be the only one giving them a side-eye. They’re HERE if you’re feeling flush!
