[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Not just a new name for Le Rouge, but a new formula too – Le Rouge is now Le Rouge Interdit following in the footsteps of the brand’s most famous fragrance, L’Interdit. There’s a new variant of that as well so Givenchy has been one busy brand.
It’s not really clear whether the samples I have here are new colours but they’re in the Intense Silk collection which I assume is the new formula. But silky they certainly are – and impactful on pigment. I did a reel on Instagram the other day showing three different reds that potentially can be worn on a ‘one and done’ basis – i.e. no other make up – from three different brands and Givenchy Le Rouge Interdit in Rouge Audacieux, 326 (middle in the picture) won hands down. An absolute slam dunk! It’s poor quality because it’s a screen grab but I am very smitten with it.
It’s HERE for £31.50 (but at least postage is free). This shade is just an energy giver.
The beauty of the formula is the fine film of product that one swipe gives – it’s light, luminous and fuelled with hyaluronic acid so the feel is veil like on the lips. The finish is semi-matte but it’s a forgiving matte that to my mind edges more towards a sheen than a matte. Delicious.
The other two shades I have are 227, Rouge Infuse and 116, Nude Boise. Both very wearable but not really for me.
My poor, cold arm! In the swatch, bottom to top: Nude Boise, Rouge Infuse and Rouge Audacieux. The full range is HERE.
L’Interdit is iconic for all its connotations to Audrey Hepburn for whom the fragrance was created. I tend to think don’t mess with an original but I can see why variants may apply now. This variant is the L’Interdit EDT that’s been given an orange blossom twist and I must admit, since that’s a favourite note, I find it lovely. The intensity is light so would be right for anyone who prefers subtlety and can’t resits citrus and jasmine. It’s still sweet but a little sharpness from mandarin gives it a definite perk. 35ml is £47 HERE.
