Givenchy Le Rouge Has A New Name

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Not just a new name for Le Rouge, but a new formula too – Le Rouge is now Le Rouge Interdit following in the footsteps of the brand’s most famous fragrance, L’Interdit. There’s a new variant of that as well so Givenchy has been one busy brand.

Givenchy Le Rouge Has A New Name

It’s not really clear whether the samples I have here are new colours but they’re in the Intense Silk collection which I assume is the new formula. But silky they certainly are – and impactful on pigment. I did a reel on Instagram the other day showing three different reds that potentially can be worn on a ‘one and done’ basis – i.e. no other make up – from three different brands and Givenchy Le Rouge Interdit in Rouge Audacieux, 326 (middle in the picture) won hands down. An absolute slam dunk! It’s poor quality because it’s a screen grab but I am very smitten with it.

Givenchy Le Rouge Has A New Name

It’s HERE  for £31.50 (but at least postage is free). This shade is just an energy giver.

A New Name For Givenchy Le Rouge Lipstick

The beauty of the formula is the fine film of product that one swipe gives – it’s light, luminous and fuelled with hyaluronic acid so the feel is veil like on the lips. The finish is semi-matte but it’s a forgiving matte that to my mind edges more towards a sheen than a matte. Delicious.

The other two shades I have are 227, Rouge Infuse and 116, Nude Boise. Both very wearable but not really for me.

My poor, cold arm! In the swatch, bottom to top: Nude Boise, Rouge Infuse and Rouge Audacieux. The full range is HERE.

Givenchy L’Interdit

L’Interdit is iconic for all its connotations to Audrey Hepburn for whom the fragrance was created. I tend to think don’t mess with an original but I can see why variants may apply now. This variant is the L’Interdit EDT that’s been given an orange blossom twist and I must admit, since that’s a favourite note, I find it lovely. The intensity is light so would be right for anyone who prefers subtlety and can’t resits citrus and jasmine. It’s still sweet but a little sharpness from mandarin gives it a definite perk. 35ml is £47 HERE.

That’s a lovely shade on you Jane, beautiful.
I can’t get onboard with their rehash of L’Interdit as the new version was a stinker / sinker on me and the original was such a classic scent. One thing I think expensive brands do so well is lippy, smoooth textures, lovely cases and branding on the lipstick itself. I have lots which I don’t really wear (eek) and just like to look at and smell etc. Do these lipsticks have a scent at all? Not that I need any more.. 😉

Yes they do – sorry for not including that. It’s quite a mild, sweet scent. Although the fact that I didn’t notice it first time around (sitting here sniffing lipstick!) might be left over covid?? I’m not sure but the answer is yes, but it’s not horrible.

Many thanks Jane, sounds good! Hope you’re feeling better x
