Givenchy Dahlia Divin

Look out for the launch of Dahlia Divin – the new fragrance from Givenchy that launches on 1st August. It’s interesting that the perfumer, Fracois Demachy, talks about it having a solar quality because one of the first impressions that I got when I spritzed this is of hot sun. Which is crazy really, because the sun doesn’t smell of anything and yet there’s something that’s telling my brain that there is an olfactory association to it. Aside from that, Givenchy Dahlia Divin makes a more sophistacted arrangement of popular notes – vetiver, jasmine, sandalwood and patchouli, topped with mirabelle plum (can’t say I recognised that note because although I am not a stranger to a Mirabelle, they’re almost impossible to find in the UK and I’ve only ever tasted them in my childhood, in France, and have no memory of what they actually smell like).

Givenchy Dahlia Divin errs to delicate, rather than overpowering and you’ll need to like your fragrances sweet and a little bit gourmande. I’m in love with the bottle – it’s so elegant. I don’t usually take any notice of the ‘face of’ or campaigns, but Alicia Keyes is the face – look out for her wearing a Ricardo Tisci couture dress that took 500 hours to make as it is embellished with precious stones and gold thread. It’s really quite something.

Givenchy Dahlia Divin starts at £45 for 30ml.

  1. Donna

I was given a sample last week. The jasmine puts out big time one me. I don’t get on with jasmine unfortunately.

  2. I love Jasmine! Can’t wait to try this!

  3. That bottle is SO old fashioned – whoops I mean ‘classic’ – I love it! “you’ll need to like your fragrances sweet and a little bit gourmande”… YES PLEASE! *snatches it out of your hand*
