Friday Treat : Pink Linen Bedding

[unpaid/affiliate] I have bided my time, friends. I have wanted a pink linen bed set for a long, long time. It turns out that you can pay anything from approximately £100 to £1000 for this very thing and I know which end of the scale I’m prepared to be. An eye opener for me was buying a linen bed set, all dishevelled and crumpled, from a basket in H&M during their winter home sale thinking I’d run it through a hot wash and hope for the best. Well, it turned out to be the best – a pleasure, in fact, and a snip at the price (although genuinely, I don’t know how much it was – cheap, for sure). It’s a very plain light grey and I’ve subsequently bought a white and grey stripe set but something has given me such a hankering for a dusty pink bed set. I’m missing, of course, the French doors in the bedroom that look out over a lavender field and the coffee in a French press set on a white filigree iron table.

The very set has come to my attention via the John Lewis website – this plasterish shade is exactly what I’m after (I want our dining room painted in the same colour). The thing with linen bedding is that it sounds like a nightmare but as soon as you get used to idea that you don’t have to completely iron out the dishevelment – it’s meant to look like you have romped through a night of lust – and you can just hang it carefully straight from the washing machine (but I do mean immediately) and it will look not exactly smooth but not the rumpled state you might imagine. Is it as cooling as it’s billed to be? Not really, but if your other duvet cover is winceyette, your nights will be frosty in comparison. When you’re too hot, nothing is cool enough and I’d include linen in that but if you’re someone who can’t sleep without some form of cover, a linen sheet is a very good bet. So, to the point of the post – a king duvet cover is £88 HERE instead of £120. I prefer silk pillowcases and I don’t care if they match or not – they’re all white or cream anyway so they don’t look out of place.
