Formula X Press Pods

Oh my gosh.. Press Pods! I spotted these earlier on the Sunday Girl’s blog (HERE) and did a little investigating of my own to find out more about the one shot pots of paint.

So, in the Formula X Press Pod set at Sephora, you get 24 colours, each one a one-hit wonder with enough polish to paint a single set of nails. You twist the cap off, roll the integral brush around between your fingers to loosen the fibres and then give the pod a little squeeze. There are immediate flaws in this but I love the innovation – I really didn’t think something like this could happen. On the plus, imagine travelling super-light with just a couple of tiny pods taking up hardly any space in that ridiculously small plastic bag. Or, keeping a couple in your office drawer unnoticed for last minute going-out manis. But on the minus, there’s no quick dry top coat (and you’d need to use that every time unless you are going at a leisurely pace), there’s no guarantee that it will cover all of your nails – it must be based on averages so those with big nails could get left short at the pinkie stage. And, how precise can the brush be? I haven’t tried Formula X Press Pods and I’m really looking forward to seeing the USA reviews on it – it could be an epic fail or it could be just brilliant.

What do you think?

  1. I read about this type of packaging a year or so ago in a mag, dedicated to cosmetic design. They were at a research stage back then, and were meant to be used as nail polish samplers. But I guess the idea was too good to stay at that level of marketing 🙂

Wouldn’t want a whole set but I’d buy singles.

  3. I would love to try these but not sure if they would be any good x

  4. I love these!! Dozens of different looks without dozens of barely used varnish rolling around in your bedroom drawers. I would love to give these a whirl 🙂

I will definitely try these! They look very practical for travel.

  6. Wow! This is perfect to give out as samples, but also to get a whole lot of them and decide which colour fits you best 🙂 Innovative design, I’m loving it <3

Are the empty pods recyclable or is it one more thing that goes straight into landfill?
