Jo Malone Pine & Eucalyptus

The British don’t very easily accept the smell of pine as anything other than domestic cleaner, but once you’ve distinguished between the clear and precise green scent and the bleachy one, this is a hard habit to break! Pine & Eucalyptus is the scent of Christmas to me now and I love the crisp, winter olfactory hit that’s so different to more traditional scents of spice. It’s £40 HERE.

Elemis Starlight Spa

This candle is something of a secret – I once met a reader coming out of the Elemis spa clutching one, and she told me that she always buys it for Christmas. Up until then, I didn’t even know it existed! The notes of cinnamon, orange and vanilla curl deliciously into the atmosphere and it’s best enjoyed with a roaring fire and a glass of mulled wine. It’s £31 HERE.

Diptique Hiver 2014

I’m not normally a Diptique fan, but this year’s winter collection is, I think, their best ever. This time, Diptique has employed a young artist collective to add design details – my favourite is Hiver, above. If you love a smoky undertone and the scent of roast chestnuts, then you’ll be very happy with this. It’s £45 HERE.

Jo Loves A Candle Shot Box

If you don’t want to commit to one single home fragrance this winter, the Jo Loves Candle Trio with Charcoaled Lemons, Fig Tree and Salted Caramel is beautiful. The small size candles have a burn time of around 20 hours each. My favourite is Charcoaled Lemons – it really does smell of exactly that – and is both fresh and zesty and deep and smoky at the same time. Salted Caramel resists being sickly while Fig Tree is pretty and fruity. The set is £60 HERE.

Esteban Ambre

This one is truly for those dark and cosy winter evenings. Amber is one of those scents that winds its way into your soul when you most need embracing. Woody, vanilla-accented and a back drop of patchouli make this heady and decadent. I do also love the look of this – it’s so elegant and completely keys into the ritual of creating ambiance with fragrance. It’s £30 HERE.
