Fat We Like: Clinique Chubby Sticks

I absolutely love these Chubby Sticks from Clinique – they’re already launched in the States and are heading here from 15th April at £13.50 each. I noticed on the US site, a couple of shades have sold out already so look out for Chunky Cherry and Mega Melon as they’re clearly the ones everyone is after!

Got to admit as well that I love the above visual..it just makes me want to pluck the sticks from the picture. I’ve tried one shade today – Super Strawberry – and love the pigment level that gives great coverage without being over-loud. The finish is a silky one; the sticks aren’t super-glossy and because I’m such a gloss lover, I hold that against them slightly. Chubby Sticks are billed as both moisturising lip balms and lip tints on the US site in the same sentence, but have none of the dryness associated with tints because they’re built to a balm (ish) formula. They smell sweet-plastic which personally I don’t mind (reminds me of childhood toys) and seem to wear well. I absolutely hate my lips – I’ve never in my life had naturally smooth lips – they seem to have been lined from birth so am always looking for products that soften and smooth; these do an okay job at that, but I’m so tempted to add some clear Lanolips over the top just to give that glossy and hydrated feel.

Nice! I’m a sucker for lip balms.

  2. Oooh they look really nice. I’m a sucker for a lip stain/balm. Wonder if you will need to buy a sharpener with them?

Cool, can’t wait to check them out at the counters. Love the word ‘chubby’ in their names, lol.

I was lucky enough to pick up one of these, in shade 02 whole lotta honey, in duty-free at Gatwick recently and can confirm that they are very nice indeed. The 02 is very subtle, looks like lips only amped up a little and is nicely moisturising. I will definitely get more when they are available – probably one that is a little pinker than 02.

To the person who asked about sharpening – no, they don’t need sharpening, the silver base twists round and pushes the product up. Very clever!

They look lovely! The visual is defo a great one, as usual!
When I first saw this post I was reminded of a long time ago (when I was in secondary school) I think a gold coloured chubby stick was included in a bonus time and my mum gave it to me! I remember using it a lot.. Don’t think they continued chubby sticks, but now they’re in even better colours, can’t wait to try!

I’ve bought this abroad and absolutely loving the super strawberry colour. One of the good things is that it does not need sharpening as it is retractable.

I haven’t taken much notice of Clinique for a little while but these pencils look lovely! x

Do you have to reapply quite often?
