Eye Secrets Tried & Tested

These half moon shaped stickers got a huge push in the Daily Mail this week, so I decided to give them a go myself. The marketing blurb says “Eye Secrets Upper Eyelid offers a safer, less expensive route to a younger, healthier looking appearance. Eye Secrets is a non-surgical eye lift designed to instantly restore your eyelids to a more natural, youthful shape. The invisible Eye Secrets strips neutralise the excess skin over the eyelids and restore them to their natural position, giving a younger, healthier looking face.” Now, I think that’s an over sell for what are basically tiny paper stickers, but that said, they do actually work. Once I’d applied a sticker into the natural crease, my eyes did look instantly wider and more awake. But, there is something of a downside to this. Unless you have phenomenally deep creases, the stickers do show slightly – it might well be that make up artists are swearing by them – but they’ve got a) the equipment and b) the technical knowledge to disguise them. Even with eyeshadow over the top, if you look closely, the stickers are in evidence. If you’re going for a (dimly) candle-lit romantic dinner, you could get away with it. I also found the half moons weren’t quite right for my eye shape. So, a mixed review – yes, they absolutely do work brilliantly for an instant eye lifted look, but if anyone is going to gaze up close, they will spot curious paper shapes adhered to your lids.

PS: I spoke to the PR after this post was posted, and she did point out that if your eyes are very hooded then you won’t be able to see the strips at all – and I can see that she is correct…just mine aren’t hooded enough…which is good!

I saw these mentioned in the Metro too…Sounds like double eyelid tape thats popular in Japan…saw a girl clutching 6 boxes in the 100yen shop!

They also have eyelid glue which might work better? Only a matter of time me think before the glues available too!

  2. Maybe they will work on my hooded lids 🙂 have inherited my mums eyes, unfortunately :-S

Just an FYI, this is not a new product. I have been using the original product, Eye Magic, for years with great success. There is a learning curve for properly applying the strips, and with some experimentation and the proper makeup, you can make them disappear completely on the eye with a HUGE lift to your lids. As you said, you do need the right type of eyes for them to work optimally.

If you’re interested in buying this product for much less, I recommend Eye Magic. Eye Secrets costs £30, while you can get Eye Magic for £12 at eyemagic.net

  4. Ahh I’ve heard a lot about this… It’s nice to see more non-surgical options becoming available to women 🙂
