Essie is so good at creating moods with colour – you can be pretty sure whatever colours you’re feeling for when the weather changes, Essie will have anticipated that thought. I love down-shades for nails in autumn – the same colours I want to wrap myself in when it comes to sweaters and scarves. Ive picked out my favourites from Essie Fall 2014- the wear-anywhere colours that compliment everything from jeans and knits to workwear.

As you can see, Style Cartel is a kind of military blue – it’s not so inky that you look like you’ve biro’d your nails, but bridges the blue-black gap with undertones of grey. Fall In Line is a soft, greyish green – down-washed jade, if you like. I just think they’re all kinds of stylish.

Right now though, I’m wearing Essie Toggle To The Top from last year’s winter collection – this is a vampy, shimmer shot red with undertones of black that covers off diva glam like no other. It’s Wicked Witch meets Party Girl meets Hollywood. Why am I wearing it? It’s a massive, massive clue to my next BBB/LIB beauty box!
