There aren’t many lipsticks as punchy on packaging as Elizabeth Arden. The whole golden door thing is just gorgeous and references the famous Elizabeth Arden Red Door.

So has anyone yet to crack the non-drying matte effect lipstick? The Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Colour Moisturising Lipstick is having a very good run at it, with power-pigments that are completely punchy. If you love a bold lip, then don’t miss these! The reason that the Elizabeth Arden lipsticks are far less drying than conventional mattes is that they’re satin matte – so not that dead-flat matte. Satin matte is a much more forgiving formula, because it allows for some hydrating ingredients and suppleness of product.

As you can see, with shade Raspberry (and that’s literally one swipe) it’s as smooth as silk on application. To get to the technicalities of this lipstick – Elizabeth Arden use colour pigments that are coated with moisturising butters which also helps the formula to be more flexible and less likely to do that lemon-juice pucker thing on your lip skin.

If you want to know the shade that keeps on selling out, it’s Red Hot. And that’s because it really is a hot red! Look out for that colour if you love a bold lip and grab it when you can. It’s currently out of stock at John Lewis but looks to be in stock on the Elizabeth Arden site HERE for now. At £21, this is a lipstick that isn’t trying to fool us into thinking that all lipsticks should cost over £25 and yet it has all the qualities of what we have come to expect from the luxury lip sector.
