e.l.f. Sun Boss Gloss SPF25 Review

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] If you Google SPF Lipgloss, you really won’t find very many at all. In the big, big ocean of glosses that are available, SPF amounts to droplets. I can only think that this is because it’s hard to formulate well enough to be effective but it’s a very good example of e.l.f. winkling out the undiscovered corners of beauty and then front running the category.

They’re using mineral sunscreen for the sun protection which gives the finish a milky edge in all but the deepest shade which is lovely – the finish is shiny and creamy with enough pigment to make an impact. I’d wear all of these shades absolutely no problem at all.

From left to right, the shades are: It’s Your Mauve (my favourite, I think), Pink Me Girl and That’s My Jam.

From left to right again? Blush Much? and Peachy Kween.

As you can see from the swatches, the pigment is pretty good. I’d suggest that you will need to be mindful to reapply regularly as per the normal price of wearing gloss which looks gorgeous but is high maintenance. I’m automatically a frequent reapplier so I don’t mind about this but if you’re relying on Sun Gloss Boss as your lip SPF you will need to be extra vigilant because, true to category, it needs reapplying often. Shades from bottom to top: It’s Your Mauve, Pink Me Girl, It’s My Jam, Blush Much? and Peachy Kween.

Shades from left to right: Peachy Kween, Blush Much? and It’s My Jam.

And, finally, left to right: Pink Me Girl and It’s Your Mauve. They’ve got a sweet, coconutty scent that isn’t horrible (and I hate flavoured glosses and balms) and at £7 HERE I think they’re a summer snip for all gloss girls.
