Does your beauty routine score highly or will you pay a penalty for not looking after your skin?

During the World Cup, you can revolutionise your skin care with One-Nil; guaranteed to soothe and calm the complexion so you won’t be mistaken for a red card.

Full of active Amazonian botanicals, you can be sure to kick off your skincare perfectly to celebrate the football.

One-Nil is a proper team player; if you want skin as smooth as Brazilian beauties to wow the World Cup then look no further!

You won’t get scent off because One-Nil is fragranced with native Amazonian Rainforest plant extracts sourced exclusively from the off side of the river where the sun shines most.

This World Cup, don’t put your skin care routine in the back of the net; make sure you celebrate football properly with the anti-ageing properties of One-Nil.

NB: An amalgamation of all the beauty press releases I’ve been sent urging us to stock up on new beauty products for the World Cup. Head… meet desk.

  1. I don’t know what is worse….press releases like that or all of the articles and blog posts I’ve seen that cover some variation of “What to do while your man watches the World Cup” or “How to blag your way through understanding football.” If I see one more, I will scream! The authors of such pieces are playing into the most outdated, untrue, and obnoxious stereotypes of ALL women being either uninterested in sport or incapable of understanding it, and ALL men living and breathing solely for the World Cup. Not to mention how obnoxious the implication that women won’t know how to fill their time if their partner is watching the World Cup….news flash, women don’t exist solely to accommodate or spend time with their partners. We have other interests and probably know how to fill our time just fine, thank you very much!

  2. This made me laugh out loud!

But actually I was properly livid when I read the reports of the Benefit World Cup Pub.

What made me cross is that it could have been so good, why a brand like Benefit felt the need to fall back on the cliche and patronise is beyond me. Where is the tongue in cheek nature of the brand as it proclaims it’s World Cup pub is “haven of all things pretty and pink”.

Go onto any primary school playing field across the country and you’ll see teams of young boys and girls battling out over the football. I’m not sat here red-faced saying girls should dream of playing for Man United but surely it would be better for everyone if our girls weren’t told the World Cup was great for “serious amounts of footballer leg ogling (tops off goals are preferable please boys)” – thanks Benefit.

Excuse typos as writing a comment on my phone I was so cross!

  3. I went to the Benefit Pub on Friday and its BRILLIANT! I totally get what they are doing there and it is a tongue in cheek project that has been done really well. yes catered towards women but It didn’t come across anti-football, it was on and we were asked if we wanted the sound on or to keep the music. Totally made me enjoy the football more and the energy there was really fun and lively – oh and I got my brows waxed which was a nice bonus 🙂

  4. It makes perfect sense considering it’s common knowledge that all beauty lovers love football and all football lovers love beauty; it’s a match made in heaven…xx

I was bored of the World Cup and Brazil before it even started because of PR overkill. Oh well tennis starts Monday!
