A while ago, someone said to me that podcasts were the way forward. I didn’t believe them. But something in the conversation planted a seed and now I’m a regular listener.
Boiled down, podcasts are digital audio files for the internet, so you listen to them on your laptop or iPad much the same way as you’d listen to the radio.
The podcast that’s got everyone gripped at the moment is Serial (available at Serialpodcast.org), the true story of a high school murder set in 1999 in Baltimore.
Because it’s on your laptop, you can access maps, letters and timelines when you become really involved (which you will!). New episodes are released every Thursday morning and you can save or download to listen to whenever you want. I recommend listening while you have a long soak in the bath or long car journeys. It’s absolutely gripping and we’re on the cusp of a huge digital trend.
I’d also recommend podcasts from http://interactive.wbez.org/podcasts/, creators of Serial.
