Dior Star Foundation is the biggie in terms of launches for Dior this year.. USP is that it is ‘light boosting’. Actually, it’s quite a clever formula, combining both CC and BB elements such as colour neutralising and (proper) skin care ingredients.
My first thought on trying Dior Star Foundation is that it actually feels like a CC cream – I found it errs to dry in feel and needs a bit of working-in, and I made a note to use plenty of moisturiser underneath. However, there is absolutely no dryness to the look on my skin which now looks, as promised, even and with a very slight sheen on the skin, which I love.
The skin care claim is that after 4 weeks of use, radiance and smoothness are improved by 50%, thanks to Immortelle Flower, Daisy extrat and liquorice extract. Daisy apparently has the ability to regulate melanin production.
Dior Star Foundation is a return to heavier coverage, but in a light formula, doing all the things that we think of as needing ‘heavy’ formulas for. It’s excellent for knocking out redness and giving the skin a uniform look (bad luck if you love your freckles!) but doesn’t quite live up to the ‘weightless’ claim – I know it’s there. If your skin runs to dry, as mentioned, you will need to really moisture up before hand – I suspect that those with oilier types will absolutely love this formula!

I’d be prepared to put money down to bet that you won’t have experienced a skin care texture like this before...
There are 13 shades, which seem to cross the colour spectrums quite well, but 13 is never enough for a foundation range – I imagine if it is the success that Dior are hoping for, there will be colour extensions over time. Oh, I should mention that there is a special sponge applicator but I don’t have it here yet. If it makes ALL the difference to the application, I’ll let you know – otherwise, I think £12 for a little sponge is rather, er, lux!
Dior Star Foundation launches in September for £32.
