Dior, as a brand, rarely puts a foot wrong – some of my favourite ever beauty items are Dior, especially when they take inspiration from their heritage and go all fancy with palettes. Dior Mirror Eyes is totally about the now – nothing to do with heritage and all taken from the 2015 Dior catwalk.

Mirror Eyes is a set of four reflective, stick-on liners to give the kind of statement eye you could never get with a pencil. I’m always looking for the ultimate patent look liner and it doesn’t exist yet. The liners are stunning – amazing if you want that directive kind of make up look. But – and the buts are big – it’s not a new thing; I have a booklet of RMK liners from several years ago doing exactly this and upping the ante with diamante as well. It’s also, for four sets (two silver, two black) £49.

Even if I was a millionaire, I might think twice before paying the best part of £50 for eight miniscule sheets of paper. The matte black packaging is beautiful, the result is beautiful but the price nearly kills me.

I’d be more impressed I think if they’d gone the gold temporary tattoo route – nobody that I know of has done this for eyes and I think it would look and feel so much better. The pieces of paper are all very well, but they’re not going to sit on the eye skin as naturally as placing a transfer, and because they’re reusable, they’re quite sturdy which doesn’t feel all that comfortable.

Hate to say it but I think this is a rare Dior miss. Dior Mirror Eyes launches this month at Harrods, Selfridges and the Dior Covent Garden store ( do go.. they’re so lovely in there!).
