When I opened the Dior Beauty Autumn 2016 collection, called Skyline, that arrived this morning, the Dior 5 Couleurs Palette was the product I opened last – my info talks about the collection reflecting architecture and I really wasn’t getting it at all! Then, I opened this and the penny dropped. It’s absolutely immaculately executed – not a line out of place anywhere, and given how soft the shades are, this is some feat. The palette is called Architect (there is another colourway) and it reminds me so much of the Eiffel Tower. All in all, some beautiful, beautiful detailing on this one – this colourway is Parisian Sky.
You can imagine how much I did not want to swatch this! The shade textures are very soft – I used the little sponge applicator to swatch and while I was going for the least possible pattern damage, it didn’t stay pristine. Yes, insert my saddest face HERE. However, the shades are super blendable, and have a good pigment without being alarmingly saturated. I would easily wear this colour combination and be very happy with it.
Next up, the Diorblush Light & Contour sculpting tool, alongside a Diorshow Mono in Reflection – a shimmering, tawny gold. Although I’m not into sculpting, I did notice that this one is very, very creamy for application and blends beautifully – if you do sculpt daily, I think you will notice the difference between this and drier versions. Reflection is in the new Mono formula – Lustrous Smoky – highly pigmented, smoky colours.
The luminious end is very much so, the darker end terrifies me!
I’m on much happier ground with the gloss and nails! For nails, there are four shades – in chocolate truffle shades. Skyline is the richer, velvet chocolate pick, while Obscure is is more bitter chocolate. I haven’t seen the other two shades, Abstract and Minimal. The Dior Ultragloss is in Scandalous, a shimmery plum-hit copper colour, which sits alongside two other Ultragloss shades in this collection: Famous and Gorgeous. There are also three lipshades but I don’t have them here.
And here they are in the swatch. The top swatch is the new Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer.
This is in a very pale gold and comes with a mini kabuki. It’s super reflective and very pretty if you love the light-hit skin look. The pigment is very concentrated so a light touch with this is essential – unless you really want to up the glow! The Dior Beauty Autumn 2016 collection launches in August, so summer skin will be able to appreciate the autumn look. I’m not sure how I feel about a predominantly brown collection – but it’s rich and opulent with flashes of gold; all the things autumn reflects so maybe I will have more feel for it post-summer. Nonetheless, that palette has my heart and I’m very taken with the gloss and nail lacquer, too.
