Cosmetics A La Carte Fresh Faced Water Colour Balm Review

[unpaid/sample] If you love a sheer and dewy finish on your cheeks (or lips), I think you’ll love the new Cosmetics A La Carte Fresh Faced Water Colour Balms – they’re pricey but a little goes a long way and they’re exactly the cheek finish I’m looking for in summer.

Cosmetics A La Carte Fresh Faced Water Colour Balm

You can tell that this is make up made by grown ups because Cosmetics A La Carte have resisted the urge to add foodie scents to Rosy, Peachy and Fruity. Fruity (the last in the row) is my favourite – it doesn’t do the Clinique Black Honey vampy thing which is what I expected but instead is a deepened, ripe-apricot colour that looks very ‘healthy’ and fresh.

I’ve tried a lot of this type of jelly sheer product and the Cosmetics A La Carte version is easily the best. It doesn’t leave an oily wash of colour – it’s more of a natural, transparent sheen that feels immediately at home on the skin. There is the perfect balance of colour and translucency.

At the bottom is Rosy, followed by Peachy and finishing with Fruity.

I’ve got Peachy on the left cheek and Rosy on the right.

And this is Fruity. I haven’t blended because I wanted you to see how the colour layers on – obviously all you need to do is use fingertips or, and better still, a brush to smooth it out. The colours listed on the ingredient list for this are brown, blue and red so it’s quite an intriguing shade. All the balms can be used on cheeks or lips but I definitely prefer it on the cheeks. They’re £38 each HERE.
