[affiliate/sample] You probably heard my scream of anguish long before you read this post! I’m so cross with myself I can’t tell you. If you’re of a sensitive beauty disposition, look away now!

This gorgeous little chap is celebrating The Year Of The Rat in the Chinese calendar – I wondered in previous posts how brands were going to make rats lovely and yet, here he is, proving anything is possible.

Just as I was folding up clear tape to ensure the pop stays upright for a nice photo, I dinged it with the tape holder and knocked out a portion of the highlighter. I know… I cursed so hard at my clumsiness. Then, in an attempt to slide the missing bit (s) back in, I caught the top of the ear with my nail. Arghhh. The only upside is that I didn’t really want to swatch it because it was so perfect but obviously, not so much now.
The shade is a light but warm gold – it’s the sweetest thing and if you remember the cheek pops originally the flower decoration that was used is the same to surround the rat. The colour burnishes up with brushing to a high cheek sheen that catches the light so nicely.

It’s an easy wear, especially if you’re a bit shy of highlighting a la Instagram – the colour blends so easily that you can take it to whatever level you like. I sometimes use highlighter over creme blush and if you just whisper your brush over it you get a very subtle glow effect that just ups the lighting on your face. At £18 I think it’s a great buy whether you celebrate Chinese New Year or not. It’s HERE, non affiliate HERE.

I just went to buy this for my daughter who lives in Hong Kong and is expecting baby no 2 at the end of April but it’s not there…
Maybe it won’t be available until Chinese New Year…
I’ll keep looking….
Thanks for fronting it though, she’ll love it I know!
It’s definitely live on the website (there’s a link in my post) – good luck finding it 🙂 x
My husband is a rat year person – but I can’t give it to him. As for me, I’ll await the dragon one and hope it isn’t so yellow/gold but more silvery!!
It looks lovely!
Jane if ever you get the chance have a look at a pet rat, having kept several over the years I can confirm they are indeed lovely and so intelligent. So sad how misunderstood these creatures are.
I love animals and I wouldn’t say no to one to be honest. I can only manage one pet at a time though and Honey (my dog) is plenty!
I totally agree, one pet is enough at one time!
As someone who was born in the year of the rat, I approve. I’ll have to look for it on the Spanish Clinique website. The idea of a not too shiny highlighter is very appealing.
It’s shiny but if you go just a whisper of it, it’s fine x
Wow this is so cute! Love the pigment.
