Clarins Lipliner Pencils

This is such a great idea from Clarins – lipliners that match your skin tone rather than your lipstick. That’s a whole heap of problems solved. I don’t really get along with lipliners (although if you remember the trend for wearing a different shade liner to your lipstick – I was all over that at the time!) but the Clarins Lipliner Pencils have turned that on its head.

As you get older, it’s quite common that your lip line isn’t as precise as it was before – I use gloss mainly, rather than lipstick, so the effect isn’t nearly as obvious, but if you’re looking for that Clara Bow sharp, precise application, one of these is going to change everything. They’re soft without being mushy, and they’re superstayers – it’s a good sign when I have to bring out the cleansing oils to get the swatches off my arm!

The swatch, from bottom to top, has: Nude Fair, Nude Mocha, Nude Rose and Nude Beige. They’re £17 but I’ve found them HERE at £14.95.

  1. A lipline in the shade of your lips is the best thing ever! I’ve been using a Clinique lipliner in Bamboo, and it matches my lips perfectly. That makes it really easy to look very pulled together in no time – mascara. lipliner, maybe lip balm if I’m in a semi-glossy mood, and that’s it. I love it. 😀

  2. Hi Jane, Christian Louboutin are doing the same. One more and it can be declared as a new trend!

That’s a good idea, but I don’t see my lip color there. I have naturally rosy pink lips, not beige or brown. Clear lip liner is so much easier and there are good inexpensive ones out there too.

  4. I don’t if it’s just the picture but they all look very brown. It would be interesting to see them on.

I’m with you way too brown for me.

Will there be a review of the new Joli Rouge lipsticks on the blog?

I don’t have them! Not sure why they haven’t come through. x

Well I’ve been holding back from buying pending your review so I hope they send you some soon.

I think you will find it funny that they sent them to me in a box of biscuits.. because I don’t eat biscuits I never discovered them! Review will be along in a couple of days.. but they’ve been here all along!

Good marketing, Clarins! But I’m using lip pencil matching my lips rather than lipstick for over 15 years and Dior quietly meets my needs just fine without pretending to be revolutionary here. It is indeed more subtle and universal than trying every time to get not just a lipstick in new color, but also a liner.
