This is easily one of my favourite innovations and I fell in love with the products and the concept at press day. The three Fairy Tale scented coffrets contain an illustrated fairy tale, a petite fragranced candle and a 15ml room spray, inspired by the individual stories.
The three scented tales are Jack and The Beanstalk (Jack et le Haricot Magique), Little Red Riding Hood (Petit Chaperon Rouge) and Sinbad The Sailor (Sinbad le Marin), and the idea is that as you read your children (you might want to borrow some for this) the story, you light the candle to infuse the atmosphere and use the room spritz at key points. Jack and The Beanstalk smells quite literally of freshly picked crisp beans, green and earthy, while Little Red Riding Hood is represented by the scent of forests and moss to represent her walk through the woods. Sinbad is aquatic, spicy and musky to emulate his exotic adventures. I can totally imagine a favourite godmother, aunt or uncle being begged for scented tales at Christmas – what a treat!
I’m told however, by a friend whose gorgeous son has special needs, that sensory stimulation is commonly used in special educational environments; she tells me if the tale includes rain, for example, then a sprinkling of water makes the story more fun. I can see it would be easy to create your own fragranced or sensory stories for children of any ability, but for junior fragrance afficionados, Cire Trudon Contes de Noel is a delicious indulgence.
