Whoever is creating the ideas for Ciate is having a great time! It’s one of the most creative nail brands we have in the UK and they’re constantly reinventing the nail wheel. Just when I am sworn off any kind of nail art, along comes the Tweed Collection and I’m sold. Particularly the red one..It’s Haute In Here.. I want that on my nails right now!
So, the formula works as a mix of matte glitter and sequin strands set in a creamy base rather than clear, now I’ve got my Revolution Glitter Base Coat I am game on for trying this look out. I know that someone did a ‘tweed’ type polish before – it might even have been Empress of Tweed, Chanel, but it was early days in textural formulations and while interesting, was a bit rubbish to be honest. Does anyone remember who it was?
I’ll obviously be swatching as soon as I get my hands on a sample. These have launched for £9 each this month HERE.
NB: I’m glad I swatched before this review went out.. for some reason I had understood they weren’t in a clear base but they are, and as someone commented on Twitter, some are a lot like a ‘feather’ effect we’ve seen elsewhere. I did a very quick swatch – funnily enough, I loved the pinky-gold shade and not the red – it took three coats to get this effect.
Sorry about the quality but they’re quite iPhone snaps. I’m not as taken with them as I thought I’d be although they are pretty statement nails! They need exceptionally careful application but while they’re not a miss, they aren’t quite a hit.
