Cherry Carmex

[unpaid/sample] I always find the little Carmex pots delightful – it’s my love of small things again, I’m sure. But I think they’re a great gift for smaller budgets too – everyone needs lip balm in winter, and pair it up with a nice cherry jam or some sour cherry sweets; you should come in at just under a fiver.

Carmex Cherry

The lip balm pots are on offer at Boots for £2.32. I find Carmex a perfectly good lip balm – the cherry scent is a bit like cherry coke so it might divide fans of the original and I like the fact that it has SPF15. You get a little lip tingle from both camphor and menthol that isn’t long lasting particularly, and its main ingredient are petrolatum and lanolin. Petrolatum gets a bad rap but it’s an excellent occlusive ingredient that stops moisture getting out of the delicate lip skin which then leads to cracking and flaking. Lab Muffin is my go-to guru if I don’t know something and as she points out, the petrolatum that ends up in skin care is a whole other level and grade to crude petrolatum. I’m linking to the balm HERE at Boots but you should be able to pick it up in store just as easily.

What a fabulous idea of combining food&beauty of the same ingredient, Jane! Really, truly fab! Thanks! I also love Carmex 🙂 (And speaking of good offerings on lip treats that can also make stocking fillers – on Stylevana they have set of 4 mini – 8ml each, quite reasonable size, actually – lip sleeping packs in different tastes (they don’t have taste, just aroma) for under 10 Euro! I use it also as usual lip balm, not just overnight and it’s rather good – on Lanolips level in calming and nutrition… (I already split one between my kids + “planted” pots in the kitchen and bathroom to eliminate leisure excuses of “it’s too far to go grab one”)

Yes, I think I have a pack of the little Laneige balms – I bought it from YesStyle a couple of years ago. x
