Charlotte Tilbury Scent of A Dream Launched

So, it’s finally launch day for the Charlotte Tilbury Scent of A Dream – my original review on the fragrance is HERE, but by way of a brief recap: big, musky, sexy and heady.

When the CT machine gets going, it really gets going – this has been one of the most hyped fragrances that I can remember (I’ve barely seen anything on the new Louis Vuitton for example) with a huge share of internet space before it’s even launched. I’ve been watching reviews of those who were sent pre-samples with their orders (so, i.e. customers rather than bloggers) and it seems to be going down very well. It’s very difficult not to get caught in CT world – there is so much enthusiasm for the brand FROM the brand – everything is done full pelt and with high exuberance so it’s easy to get swept along.

But, as I said in my original review, it’s not one for me other than occasionally, but I can’t deny that it’s a very sexy fragrance (thanks to a compound called Hedione which reacts with your own pheromones) that will get you noticed. Charlotte Tilbury Scent of A Dream is £49 HERE. It would not surprise me at all if this sells out in less than a day.

I will definitely be looking this! The packaging is so luxurious, everything you’d expect from Charlotte.

I work next to the CT counter in Selfridges, Brum and this fragrance has been on display for the last couple of weeks. Don’t like it at all – it reminds me of an 80’s perfume, a bit of a screamer !!

I got a sample of this over a week ago and I don’t like it, as Debbie T said, it smells like something overbearing from the 80s. It is a shame that CT didn’t create something a bit more modern.

I am not sure about the consistency of CT products. as some are def worth the splurge, others fall rather short for their premium price tag, however I couldn’t fault the counter service! This perfume sounds like a bit of a stinker to be honest, sorry. Like Karen and Debbie T I would expect CT to blow us away with a thoroughly 21st century fragrance with a little more allure, a little less up front / in your face.

I wonder what makes you think that Hedion reacts with anyone’s pheromones? I really do not think this idea has any scientific proof. The whole idea of a special ingredient that is obliged to make a perfume “sexy” is kind of a joke with the perfumers. Unfortunatelly not so with the marketing departments…Actually Hedion is a common ingredient of modern perfumery starting from the late sixtees. So now there are really hardly many perfumes that do not have this.

I’m oblivious to marketing.. that’s my job. I don’t love this fragrance on me but other people love it on me.. to the point of grabbing may arm to smell it more! While it’s not to my personal preference, I cannot igore there is something special about it. I’ve no investment in this so nothing to keep me from telling the truth.

You could have more information about Hedione and its usage from this link by Perfume Shrine, this source of “perfume knowledge” is highly reliable :
