Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Youth Boosting Foundation

My previous experiment with Charlotte Tilbury Foundation was slightly marred because I had a shade that was too pale, so while I did wear it, I didn’t feel happy in it although, my goodness, you will have dewy skin, no matter what colour you are wearing.

Now I’ve got the right shade (Medium 05) for my Mediterranean tones, my skin is loving this stuff! The packaging talks about it giving luminosity (and SPF15) and it totally delivers on that front. I’m an absolute convert to this. It’s got a slightly fluid consistency – all the better to blend – and you really don’t need a lot. I can barely feel it on my skin and I am convinced that it does make my skin feel softer.. I didn’t have a moment where I thought my skin wasn’t completely hydrated. It doesn’t quite last all day long – you would probably need to top up, and if you are prone to oil, a setting powder would be useful.

There are ten shades to choose from but they aren’t explained very well.. there are several options within each category – so Medium O5, O6 and O7 and so on. I have Medium 05 and I can detect pink tones in it when naturally I think I would need more yellow tones. However, I am getting away with a touch of pink which actually has something of a brightening effect.

The foundation is £32 – it’s not worth making a mistake on at that price so I’d advise a match at counter, but if you’re confident on self-select, it’s HERE.

  1. Hi
would you be able to further clarify the shades- are 05, 06,07 the same with different undertones- or do they go darker as the number goes higher?- which are more pink or more yellow?
    Thank you

Well, I’ve only seen two of them but it’s my understanding that they do grade with undertones as you suggest.. but without having them in front of me I don’t think I can advise further x

      1. Thanks Jane – looks like a great foundation- for reference what are you foundation matches say in MAC or Armani.x

honestly, I don’t know.. I trial so many it’s not really possible to keep lists of what I am to each one.. but I have sallow undertones, brown eyes, brunette hair… if that’s of any help :-))

          1. :)thanks for you input!

  2. The shades get darker by numbers – 10 Dark is the darkest thought it’s not actually very dark and there’s a massive leap from 9 Dark. I think you would definitely want to go to a counter rather than select online. One fantastic thing is that Charlotte Tilbury is working on more foundation colours (I had tweeted that though the colour products were fab the foundation shade range wasn’t quite wide enough and was mega impressed with her prompt, non-defensive response).
