The Chanel Rouge Noir collection hit the stores last week – I’m still completely obsessed with the Le Volume de Chanel Rouge Noir that’s a very blackened wine shade, but despite being completely beside myself at the news, Illusion D’Ombre in Rouge Noir isn’t quite as ‘rouge’ as I thought it was going to be. It’s still a gorgeously wearable shade, with slip and gleam, but has a lot of brown in it that means the wine shade doesn’t come through as much as it does with the deep shade in Chanel Signe Particulier. My original post (with swatches) is HERE.
If you’re craving that deep wine shade on your lids, then the Chanel Signe Particulier is the better option. It’s £44. The bad news is that it’s sold out everywhere (I will do updates if I find it in stock anywhere). However, if you’re looking for pieces from the Chanel Roube Absolument collection in general, I’d steer you towards the mascara because there’s something a bit thrilling about it (it’s £25 HERE), and also the metallic Chanel Rose Fusion Le Vernis (£18 HERE).
I still don’t think there’s anything to beat the original Rouge Noir polish and I’m kicking myself for not being more on it on launch date because the entire Chanel Christmas collection is disappearing so quickly (Lame Top Coat is also gone). If you spot restocks on line please do let me know (but buy what you want first!). It’s likely that stock will be more complete in actual Chanel stores.
