Matte lipstick lovers will be happy that out of the six shades for Lucia’s first Chanel collection, four of them are Rouge Allure Velvet Mattes.
It’s a versatile line up – everything from a bitter chocolate ‘Rouge Noir’ red to a pink/red undertone nude.
Starting at the deepest shade: Rouge Audace, Rouge Charnel, Rouge Feu, Rouge Vie, Rouge Engenue and Rouge Audace.
From bottom to top: Rouge Tentation, Rouge Audace, Rouge Engenue, Rouge Feu, Rouge Vie, and Rouge Charnel. Rouge Ingenue and Rouge Tentation are the only two in the Rouge Allure sheen formula.
And here’s Lucia herself, presenting her collection. A red re-interpretation is a huge ask, especially when there are SO many red lipsticks in the world already. I feel she has managed to put her own stamp on red and to create a collection that is bonded by one common thread although you have to look hard to see it (and in the case of the mascara.. never actually find it!). Chanel Le Rouge Collection No 1 collection does feel as though it’s born of creativity and not Homebase style colour charts. It doesn’t, at the end of the day, matter whether you appreciate the creative process or not, or are even aware of it – if there’s a red that speaks to you, that’s enough.
The collection launches on 5th August.
