Pretty soon, you’re not going to be able to move through the beauty halls for essences. There are plenty lined up from existing lines in Asia to make their way to the UK. But, jump one trend forward and we’ll be all over mists – top-up spritzes to use throughout the day packed with hydrating skincare ingredients but in a sprayable formula. Although in the UK we are used to mists in the form of spritzes, it’s usually all about refreshing or cooling and for summer use rather than a full-on skin care focus all year round.
Some brands, such as Givenchy, with Mist Me Gently – a hyaluronic acid formula for maximum hydration – are already onto this trend in their main lines, and of course, Chanel (above) who have cleverly mixed an essence and a spritz – two trends in one can. The Chanel version uses antioxidants and vitamins. The beauty of skincare mists is that you can spray them over your foundation or base and still get a little hydration top-up. Both the Givenchy and the Chanel versions are existing in the UK already so we just have to wait for L’Oreal and Lauder to catch up before we see the big onslaught.
