CHANEL Eyes 2010: Inimitable Intense Mascara & Ombres Contraste

Ok, it’s finally happened – I have had a moment of regret regarding my eyelash extensions – because I won’t be able to wear the new Chanel Mascara, Inimitable Intense that launches in June. I don’t ever even miss wearing mascara, but I am one sorry blogger that I won’t be able to even try the guaranteed sell-out shade of Rouge Noir – blackest black with hints of red. Sigh. Other shades are Noir, Brun and Marine. But it isn’t all bleak, because I can, and will, use the beautiful new duos, Ombres Contraste. One shadow is powder and the other is cream-powder. I’ve got a sample of Gris-Subtil and it’s just a lovely, wearable dark grey with a contrasting dove shade. They’ll retail for £29, and the Mascara for £21.50.

The week prior to launch date (11th June), Chanel are offering customers a lash consultation – customers will receive a complementary 7 day trial of their chosen mascara and will be invited back on the 11th to have an eye tutorial.

Well, I’ve tried Rouge Noir (Inimitable Intense is already available in Germany) and I’m afraid you can only appreciate the shade when taking the mascara off (that is, the colour on the cotton pad is indeed kind of fabulous) but no matter how hard I try to see any colour on my lashes it still looks ordinary black. (Which is not the case with other coloured mascaras – Lancome Hypnose in Pop Petrol did not look black on the lashes and this was why I liked it)

    WANT!

  5. I had this mascara already, in black, and it’s my favorite – this is a huge thing to say from someone who wore only drugstore mascara for many years.

And the duos are lovely, I got 40 Misty Soft, a brown/mauve, and it’s so chic and buttery smooth!

I got an email from Chanel with a Voucher to try this (on Weds). Took it to three different shops in Manchester today and none of them had it! So much for Chanel advertising that they would invite customers to try it a week before the launch! I like Chanel products but find their customer service etc. pretty poor in the Uk. Went to Boots- they didn’t look at me the whole time I was being served, just bellowed, what do you want? No please, no thank you. They broke off in the middle of ringing the items in the till, to tell a Chinese lady, who spoke little English, that she shouldn’t really give the sample of perfume as she didn’t have a Voucher (the lady had saw an open box of them near the till and asked for one). They then tutted loudly and practically threw it at her, with a weirdly angry ‘there you go then!’ I spent £162 and got nilich. I wouldn’t asked for anything- god knows what they would do to me (ha ha). I work in retail and would get in so much trouble if I behaved like this.

They generally have too little stock of the limited edition stuff and you see people walking away from their counters with empty hands and money still in their pocket! Mad.

Its a shame because their products are so good. They let themselves (and us) down in so many ways. Come on Chanel get your act together!
