I popped along to the Chanel Summer presentation today, with Lisa Eldridge demonstrating beauty looks. I even got her to pose for a nail swatch (above). As soon as I get products, I’ll swatch them (I have a couple of product that will get my full attention at the weekend) because this was more to demonstrate how everything should be used and to introduce newness, so products weren’t fully ready to be taken home. So, there’s very little info to give at this stage; it’s definitely more of a little look.
So, first up are the gorgeous contouring powders in picture one and two – two different shades and the way Lisa used them opened my eyes to how multifunctional they are. You can use to highlight lids, blush or contour cheeks or sweep over the whole face for a subtle healthy glow – and they’re totally matte. You can see on the model’s nails that there are some super-bright colour pops for nails coming – as well as the re-release of Eastern Light, a pure white. The models were wearing it in a reverse French which I think looks amazing. Also above is Illusion D’Ombre in New Moon – it’s highbeam! It has so much shimmer that even one light wash with a finger across the lid gets an incredible amount of shimmer and glimmer and it’s one of three new shades launching for Chanel Beauty Summer 2014.
For nails and cheeks, it’s more pops of pretty. There are six new Le Vernis for summer. But – and there weren’t any samples for me to photograph, other than Lisa’s, which I didn’t get to – new mascara – in orange! It sounds all wrong, but once on the model it did rather a strange thing on the lower lashes and reflected back light so it looked like the model was wearing a very subtle eye liner. The orange mascara is designed to be worn over black. There’s also a high pigment metallic purple lash designed to be worn on its own.
Now the glosses. These are as they look – super juicy and very bright, but also extremely sheer so what you get on the lip is a fraction of the intensity that appears in the tube.
The biggest story though is Les Beiges Fluid Belle Mine; a silicone based matte colour that gives medium to high coverage, and yet looks and feels light on the skin. It’s more of a pigmented gel I suppose that doesn’t settle into lines or feel dry. It’s the first matte coverage that I think I could actually wear. The gorgeous model in the picture above is wearing it (but yeah, she had perfect skin to start with!). She’s also wearing those wild gold chunky trainers. A bit of me wants them a lot.
So that’s it.. a very, very quick and early look – nothing coming til May (although I think the foundation may launch in March). Once I have the full images and info, I’ll post again.
