Chalk Stream Handwash Review

[unpaid/sample] Handwash is one of those products that you can go really high with (Jo Malone etc) or really budget friendly (Carex etc) but milling about in the middle are a host of beautiful hand washes that don’t break the bank but feel more luxurious than your average with extra benefits. Chalk Stream is one such – a UK brand sourcing one of their main ingredients from a chalk stream that starts in the Chiltern Hills.

Apparently, there are only 200 chalk streams in the world and they’re known for the purity of their water. The pollution free environment grows the best watercress and amongst the other notes (there are three variants to choose from) I can pick up that peppery zing that watercress has. If you’re going to want watercress in any product, you’d pick shampoo because watercress extracts are softening, but it’s nice for skin too being full of antioxidants.

My handwash is both minty and peppery – it’s Aloe and Watercress – so it smells really clean and uplifting. The package came with an empty bottle and a compostable pouch containing the liquid. It’s a simple enough process to add the wash from the pouch into the bottle. Chalkstream Aloe & Watercress is the sort of handwash that when people visit your bathroom they come out asking what it is because they want some! Once you’ve got your starter set, you only need to buy refills – the bottle is free at the moment so if you’re thinking about buying, now is the time. The refills are £19 and you can find them HERE.

    Hi Jane,
On your recommendation, I bought a litre bottle of Bioderma Atoderm oil for the shower and it’s so lovely that I’ve since decanted it into my hand wash bottles too. It’s perfect.
Merry Christmas to you and yours!
