For the first time in years I didn’t go to the CEW Awards lunch; I’ve got very mixed feelings about the awards now, which are a very different thing to how they started.
My concerns lie really in how the voting can be done in a fair way, and pretty much nothing illustrates this better than the above cream, Nick Lowe The Secret Is Out Lift & Repair Night Cream. This somehow scooped the Best New Everyday Facial Skin Care award. But I’m looking at blog reviews on the product from 2010 – so how is that new? How can something that isn’t new be a) entered as a new product and b) voted for as a new product, never mind actually take the prize as a new product. It’s not new.
