The Cargo Northern Lights palette is one good looking make up kit! It’s not new, but let’s not forget it is still very much winter. I get really side-tracked by all the spring colours, not least because they all launch so early now, but Cargo Northern Lights has a strong colour variety that slants to winter colours, but is flexible enough for spring, too.
There are twelve shades and range through from matte to shimmery (Glacier is beautiful with glisteny bits) with a very decent brush for application.
Kicking off with the top row for swatching we have (from bottom to top): Polar, Lapland, Aurora, Iceland, Caspian Sea and Arctic.
The bottom row is Fjord, Glacier, Finland, Osetra, Reindeer and Greenland.
Polar, Aurora, Fjord, Iceland and Finland are all lighter and brighter shades – perfect for the segue from winter to spring. I wish I’d seen this before now because it would have been a better post the other side of Christmas, but lots of flexible, wearable shades in this one. I’ve found it HERE for £28 instead of usual retail price of £35.
At the same time as looking at the Cargo Northern Lights Palette, I found this Matte Top Coat – very handy if you want to join the matte revolution but don’t want to invest in whole new set of lipsticks just for the finish.
I’m really keen on products like this that let you adapt what you already have – interestingly, in the swatch on my arm it didn’t perform that well, but a whole different thing on the lip where it completely took the shine off the lipstick I was wearing.
I’ve used one of the new Guerlain KissKiss lipsticks here to show what the Mattifier does – KissKiss has a sheen, rather than shine, which seems to work best (I tried it on a glossy lipstick and it wasn’t quite as efficient – it moved the colour about a bit rather than working over the top).
It’s also sold out at FeelUnique..which is always a good sign that it’s an efficient product. It’s in stock at Debenhams though for £14 HERE.
