Twitter can throw up the most useful conversations – last night revealed that if you live in the UK you can no longer shop Sephora USA (thank you @waseemac). In fact, you can’t even look at Sephora.com because you get immediately re-routed to Sephora.fr. Even if you try going Incognito or any other undercover route. Not only can you, as a UK citizen, not even peep at the Sephora.com site, you can’t spend any of your points that you might have earned while filling LVMH coffers.
@susan1375 tweeted Sephora about it and got this response: “Hi Susan, we do apologize for the inconvenience. We suggest that you reach out to Sephora France for further assistance.” Which, if you will pardon my language, is eff all of useless. There was no notice given, just one day, the UK couldn’t see America.
Sephora.com is a useful resource for price checking, for looking at new product, for ordering gifts for American friends and for staying up to date. Mr BBB is regularly in the USA – I can’t even tell him what to buy because I can’t see anything. I think they just looked at the GDPR legislation and wondered if they could really be bothered to apply the rules, thought nahh, not really, and so just blocked out an entire country instead.
Rude.
