All I can say is NEVER do this! The bottom line of How To Burn Your Split Ends Using Velaterapia is using an open flame to burn away split ends, and the reason it has come to light is because a) it’s a Brazilian thing, and b) Victoria’s Secret Model, Barbara Fialho, swears by the procedure. As if it isn’t utterly, utterly obvious already, do not try this at home. Velaterapia is a specialist procedure performed in Brazilian salons to ‘cauterise’ the hair usually using a lit candle. I’ve already had several emails from UK Trichologists, including Iain Sallid, screaming NO, NO, NO! I dare not even run this one by Phillip Kingsley.
So, there is no How To. Just a massive DON’T.

Why on earth would anyone do this?! What’s wrong with going for a trim at the hairdressers?!
That’s kind of scary! Plus then wouldn’t you have to deal with the smell of burning hair? Yuck! Definitely staying away from this.
