Brulee Beauty Review

[unpaid/sample] Brulee Beauty is created by Fizah Pasha – a make up artist whose clients voiced their struggles with finding shades that work well on golden and yellow toned complexions. We are used to seeing more generous shade ranges for deeper tones, but golden and yellow isn’t nearly as well catered to.

I’ve tried two of the new brand’s product – Skin Nectar and Brulee Multi Mousse. My skin tone can vary between the seasons but it wouldn’t be classed as yellow or golden so I tested Skin Nectar for texture only. Luckily for me, my tone can take the Multi Mousses easily and that will only increase as my tone warms up over the summer. I’m also conscious that Brulee Beauty is very specifically addressing a gap in the colour cosmetics market that I don’t belong to but I really wanted to flag this beautiful collection up because I know I have readers from every nation and who have a myriad of skin tones.

Now, here are a couple of these mesmerizing Mousses. They’re multi-purpose so can be used on lids, cheeks and lips and they are perfectly creamy and blendable. I’m slightly obsessed with Naranja, the bright and vivacious orange shade, which brightened up my face when I used it on my cheeks. It’s just one of those popping colours that makes you smile when you look at it. The other shade I have is Durazno (Peach) and again, it’s very wearable, not least because of the superior blending qualities.

In the swatch above, the first shade is Naranja and the second (above) is Duranzo – they’re so different in the pot but not a million miles apart on the skin. There are five shades and they’re £22 each. The Skin Nectar is a lightweight tint with SPF20 available in five shades – I have Shade 1. The formula – which is a mix of make up and skin care – is a beautiful blending weight that gives light coverage that evens out tone and gives skin vibrancy. It’s on offer just now for £31.50.

I’m so happy with Naranja and Durazno – both super wearable for me with a light touch but also – and their primary purpose – versatile to all tones, particularly golden and yellow. It’s really no small thing to address an underserved market, particularly when it comes to foundations and concealers and I feel Brulee lands at a time when beauty lovers can make their presence felt and known and that their individual beauty should be recognised and served.
