Bourjois Smoky Stories Palettes

Wow – the new Bourjois Smoky Stories Palettes are absolutely beautiful! Very soft textures, as you’d expect for a palette purely for smoky, blended looks, in a cream-powder formula, and some exciting colourways, too. I genuinely think the hardest thing will be picking out which colourway – some are very close in shades so it’s all down to nuance. So, as you can see, you have three main shades – a light, a medium and a dark, as well as the transparent shimmer wash in the middle. The shimmer wash is designed to either pick out and highlight specific points or to literally sweep over your smoky creation to glam it up a bit.

Starting with the green and moving round: Rock This Khaki, Mauve Again and I Love Blue (interesting, as it’s not blue!).

Grey & Night
Grey & Night

Oops.. my favourite of the Bourjois Smoky Stories Palettes, Grey & Night, got left out of the group shot, so here it is on its own.

When I swatched, I found that using the little sponge gave a bit of powder kick up that didn’t happen quite so much when I used a brush. However, it’s a very soft formula, so go lightly and top up, particularly with the centre shimmer. I think at £7.99 each the Bourjois Smoky Stories Palettes are pretty good value – there’s a lot you can do with these palettes in terms of creating different looks. They’re heading into stores from October so keep a look out!

  1. I’m thinking that these might be a better option than buying an expensive eyeshadow palette and only using a few shades!

The swatches look good but the packaging seems a bit dated for Bourjois
