When someone invents the very thing you always needed but had no clue you needed it, it’s cause for some celebratory beauty high-fiving. The Bobbi Brown Retouching Face Pencil is made to pop in your bag (or pocket) and carry about for little adjustments when you’re out and about. You know, those times when you thought you’d done a great concealing job of those shadows, but now you’re out, it’s not quite so great? Or those moments when foundation starts to fade just a little bit in areas that need them most (nostril corners – if you can describe them as such).

What’s cool about these is that, yes, they’re concealing, but actually have more of a matte foundation impact when they’re on the skin. And don’t worry, there are plenty more colours in the range. Speaking of, we aren’t going to see a single Bobbi Brown Retouching Face Pencil until September/October time in the UK, so if you’re heading Stateside, pick one up.

My samples are all running to yellowish tones but as I say, the range does go from light to dark, and the line on the end is a highlighter. It’s what highlighting used to be about before it got big and everywhere on your face! You can add a little arch of light under your brows, over your cupid’s bow or inner eye corners. It’s the anti-illuminator’s illuminator.
I can easily see myself chucking these in my bag along with a gloss before I go out – they just make touching up so much simpler and a very practical way to cart your make up about.

Hi Jane
Are you still doing the beautyplus website ?
Thanks
Junie
Hi Junie.. all the Beauty+ content is still on this site and I occasionally do Beauty+ posts where it’s relevant.. my thinking was that why am I side-lining older women with a separate site when what I really believe in treating beauty (make up mostly) in an age-inclusive way? So I am trying to filter more posts that are age inclusive, but where there really is some merit for it to only be for an older audience, the post is titled Beauty+ and is filed in the BP section of this site.
Thanks Jane
I found out about the site when I was reading your book reviews.
I was just wondering what beauty books you read if any.
Thanks again will go check out beauty +
Junie
I’d highly recommend Sali Hughes Pretty Honest.. a very recent book and one of the best there is x
I love the idea of these. I’ll definitely check them out next time I’m near a counter 🙂 xx

I’ve been using Urban Decay’s version of this product for about a year. It’s called the 24/7 Concealer Pencil. Very handy for undereye circles, the odd discolouration or blemish. It’s also cheaper (here in Canada, at least: $24. for the UD, $37 for the BB.)
I love such clever inventions. They’re like mini magic wands!
Judith August’s The Everything Pencil is great for covering red spots. The Bobbi Brown pencil seems very similar.
Bobbi Brown is always on point! And the quality is amazing. I’m down for trying this product!
