Benefit Icings Sweets for Eyes & Lips 2003 (ish)

Benefit Icings Sweets for Eyes & Lips 2003

I say 2003 ISH because these have proved impossible to date via Google research. I’ve looked at many, many images of cupcakes, icing and the benefits of icing (on cakes) that I gave up on about page a million. But, the set is so similar in style to Frostings that I posted about last week that they must be closely linked in time – a year either side or so I imagine.

They’re very much in a similar vein to Frostings content wise, too. Two lip cremes and two eye sparkles. Each pot is decorated with a different ‘icing’ design and the posts are held within paper cupcake cases to make them more like bon-bons.

The top ingredient for the lip cremes is polyisobutylene which is something that you rarely see on make up ingredient lists these days (or at least, I don’t recall having seen it any time recently).

Shade names are: Cherry Velvet (lip creme), Cocoa Lace (lip creme), Sparkles ‘n’ Spice (eye sparkle) and Sugar On Top (eye sparkle) – in the order that you see them above. I think I’ve got one more retro Benefit product to come – the Glamourette palette from 2004 – anyone remember that? I just have to find it…. 🙂

These are these are the ones I had Jane. I loved them. I think the brand felt much more ‘boutique’ then. What was that ingredient you mention and why is it not used anymore out of interest?

As far as I understand it, it’s a petroleum derivative used as a thickener – I imagine things in the labs just got more sophisticated and there was far better availability of alternatives.

I had a set of these, never wanted to use them as I didn’t want to mess up the packaging! Really, really loving these beauty archive posts. Many thanks!
