Behind The Scenes At Enamoured

The Revlon Enamoured exhibition, opening on Friday, charting 80 years of Revlon, is very hotly anticipated. Tonight’s the night that the whole thing, curated by Ryan Lanji, has to be set up, so I went along to have a look at Enamoured Unconstructed.

I think it’s really important to consider what goes into exhibitions like Enamoured. When I got there, it was a hive of activity and so much art – that all needs to placed *just so*. So, you have everyone from carpenters and painters to the artists and PRs and poor Ryan with his head spinning being pulled from pillar to post. But from this chaos you can see what’s going to emerge and I genuinely think it will be pretty spectacular for beauty lovers.

I’m only doing the tinest of teasers because I don’t want to spoil it for anyone going.

In order for Enamoured to even happen, Ryan has had to source a huge amount of vintage Revlon, because surprisingly enough, Revlon don’t have a big archive of old products. So, he went to boot fairs, auctions and spent hours on Etsy and Ebay sourcing old products – there are some absolute gems, including the above “Non Smear Type” lipstick that you “blot or don’t blot” written on the bullet. They just don’t make them like that any more and if bullet writing isn’t an idea waiting to re-emerge, I don’t know what is.

Any guesses as to what this is?

Clearly tea-break time! Tools but no man.

The Revlon must-read! And of course that lipstick doesn’t look phallic. Not at all.

If you think this is a lot of nail varnish in one place, just wait til you see the centrepiece made entirely of nail polish bottles (full).

Hello! I see you..

A fibreglass New York skyline whiling away time until they’re in situ.

Lights, waiting for their friends, camera and action.

The team aren’t expecting to be finished until 11pm tonight…but I loved having a look around at the starting post – the room was full of energy and excitement and I genuinely think Enamoured is going to be wonderful.

  1. This looks really interesting, I love the history of brands and finding out how they’ve grown and adapted over time, as well as using something so everyday to create something refreshing.
