Honestly, at £4.99 a pop, I can’t tell the difference the new Barry M Showgirl Mascara and a premium mascara. And that’s probably because there really isn’t any difference.

The bottom one is Extra Lengthening – I’ve tried it on my bottom lashes and wow! They look double the length! It’s got a short bristled brush that gives beautiful spiked and definined lashes. The pink tubed mascara is Extra Volume and I had to call in a volunteer for this one but just like Extra Lengthening, it’s a high performer.
Both Barry M Showgirl Mascara formulas claim an 8 hour wear but I’m afraid I haven’t put that to the test yet. They’re launching on 24th September into Superdrug and 1st October into Boots.

Never tried any Barry M except for their nail polishes, so I’m intrigued. I have yet to find my perfect mascara. I’ll give this a try 🙂
Absolutely love the sound of this and the packaging looks pretty similar to the Fairy Drops mascara which is also on my to-try list!

I’ve never been pleased with a Barry M makeup product, so you giving this such a good review is really promising!

Hi Jane, I often buy products as result of reading your reviews and so dutifully trotted off to Boots to buy this one. I went for the pink ‘Volumising’ option and am sorry to tell you I thought it was very disappointing indeed. It really only tinted my lashes blacks and added no volume whatsoever despite multiple applications. Maybe the silver one is better but I think you’re volunteer was a bit off on this one. There are plenty of budget mascaras that do a much better job than this – not least the new Rimmel ‘Wonder’full’ one. I also think Max Factor and Maybelline outstrip the quality of these by a mile – maybe a few quid more but I’d say it’s a few quid well spent. Agree with you entirely that ‘premium’ mascaras are a bit of a swizz on the whole though.
Love the blog – read everyday.
Thank you so much for your feedback – I’m sorry it was disappointing. I will definitely have a word because this kind of thing is the last thing in the world I want to happen. Usually Barry M does a great job with mascara so it’s very useful to have your view and I’m mortified that your money was wasted. xx
Thanks for your response. At least it was only a fiver 🙂 x
