Avon Mega Effects Mascara

So, what do we make of the new Avon mascara, Mega Effects?

I can’t work it out really – it looks kind of bizarre, and even a bit messy – I find it hard to believe that it can deliver better than a wand.

What do you think? Is it a re-invention of a perfectly good wheel or does it look promising to you?

I think we all know there is only so much a traditional mascara brush can do – different shapes to ‘grab every lash’ etc are all pretty much spin – you won’t find a massive amount of difference between one and another, so I’m curious to see if this goes above and beyond. It’s already launched in the US (costs $10 over there) but not here yet, and Avon say that it’s a ‘corner to corner transformation’ delivering 40% more mascara to the lash (compared to a traditional Avon wire brush).

  1. Ohh it looks like a torture device! I want to try it!

  2. Those who have reviewed it seem to like it but I find it a littly gadgetty myself. I do prefer a good traditional wand. 🙂

Oh wow, it looks a bit scary! I’d love to give it a try but I don’t think it’ll compare to a good old fashioned wand! xx

  4. I’d love to give it a try for myself, can’t wait for it to come over here 🙂

Novel brush, would like to try it but Avon’s reliance on photoshop and false lashes to flog their admittedly okay mascaras makes me want to spit so I’m refusing to buy from ’em any more.

  8. Hooray for trying to reinvent the wheel! After all, when the little spiky rubber brushes came out we all went ‘ooh, what’s that like then?’ and they’re brilliant. So I’m all for some experimentation and innovation. It might be rubbish, but hey, it might be great.

I have problems with spatial hand/eye coordination and ant hold mascara tubes so maybe this is the answer for people who cant use traditional mascara wands?

I got it the other day as my mums a avon rep, it’s interesting to say the least! Not a massive fan myself, it’s a brush that goes directly towards you eye which is quite intimidating. It also takes a while to dry.

  11. I saw the pixiwoo sister using this in there videos the other day, it looks really strange to use!

It looks gimmicky, I can’t see this revolutionising mascara or even lasting more than one campaign
