Avene Cleanance Expert

I see a lot of products pointed at adult acne, but rarely see reviews that say they truly do work. I love the Avene brand so this acne product has had more attention than I would normally give. Brands often try and baffle us with science so I really felt a need to put this one to the test with all my fingers crossed that it would live up to expectations, since I have never been disappointed by an Avene product to this day.

Rather than look at all the science behind Avene Cleanance Expert, I just wanted to cut to the chase and see if it works. So, my lovely friend Vera, who is recently diagnosed with polycystic ovaries and whose skin suddenly broke out, was the perfect candidate for this. I have to say she was absolutely fed up with her skin – really down about it and the picture below was taken on 19th December.

So, to briefly explain about Avene Cleanance Expert – it has an action that limits bacteria spread as well as reducing redness and treating the actual spots. Added to that, it has an exfoliating action, and a mattifying action that doesn’t just mask oil but helps to regulate the production of it.

So, this is Vera a month on – you can very clearly see that while the spots haven’t disappeared altogether, there is a noticable reduction in the severity and number. Vera says that she started to see an improvement in her skin with Avene Cleanance Expert after about five days. In the second picture, just for clarity, she is wearing a tiny bit of foundation, whereas in the first she isn’t. I’ve now recommended that she convert to the entire Cleanance range (HERE) because it’s clearly something her skin responds well to. She is absolutely thrilled with the results. After one month, she is coming to the end of the tube, having used it morning and night. I’ve found it at Escentual.com for £11.25 per tube (at Boots it’s £15) HERE so it’s fairly budget friendly.

I don’t often get a chance to do a proper test on acne products so I’m delighted that the results have been so positive for Vera. And based on that, I’d highly recommend Avene Cleanance Expert in a heartbeat as a product that delivers results to acne and spot prone skin. Seen with my own eyes and you can’t argue with that!

Is it better than LRP Effaclar? Sounds very similar.

  2. You should try the Clinique Anti – Blemish gel! Its amazing for adult (or any kind of) acne. I had spots which were years old, which are now starting to go/or have gone.

Can I say a big thank you for including the ingredients list. If you react to certain ingredients it is helpful to know whether they are in the products so that you can make an informed choice. Some brands are terrible for putting only certain ‘active’ ingredients on their website.

  4. What a great review, the pictures are so helpful! It’s great to have a proper investigation into a product!
