What’s so special about the Aveda Light The Way Candle? Well, 100% of the RRP goes to the Global Greengrants Fund whom Aveda have worked with for seven years. With a price point of £16, you can see how that, globally, could add up to something spectacular. Aveda estimate that they’ll raise $1.6 million in 2014 from sales to focus on providing clean, drinkable water where there is currently none.
I’m increasingly noticing brands giving 100% (less VAT usually) when they get behind a charity project; it seems much better to designate one key product to fund-raising for a charity than all the woolly 10%-ish things going on. I know not all brands can be so generous, but at least with 100% I know why I’m being asked to buy it and it’s not a spurious way of increasing brand sales. While 10% is better than nothing, I’m always a little curious as to whether that represents more sales with the charity tag, in which case brands can make more than the 10% extra they’re giving away.
Anyway, this year’s candle is scented with a new pure flower and plant aroma (think spa-smell) and with organic ginger and lily essential oils, I think it’s a treat well worth having for 27 hours of scented bliss. You can find the Aveda Light The Way Candle HERE.
