Augustinus Bader The Lip Balm Review

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I really didn’t get the hype with Augustinus Bader skin care but I’m such a sucker for a lip balm I wanted to give this a good go. I can quite easily say that it’s lovely but without the tint element, I’m not sure I’d shell out £33 for it. He has recently tied in with Sophia Coppola with some tinted versions – I have so much balm at the moment I could bathe in it so I haven’t weakened (yet) and bought one although the year is young…it might be too tempting in the end.

Augustinus Bader The Lip Balm Review

The ingredients aren’t all that remarkable – the usual suspects of shea, olive oil and sunflower oil along with candellila which I don’t like to see in luxury balms. It’s a thickening wax but has come under scrutiny for the traditional extraction methods which involve handling sulphuric acid – not great for the often poor work force. There are ethical methods, in particular those that use natural citric acid instead of sulphuric but there’s no way to know how it was sourced. The shea, apparently, is ethically sourced, so fingers crossed it’s the same for candellila because the orange/red tint is calling my name. The 4g balm is boosted with the Augustinus Bader TFC8® technology, composed of natural amino acids, vitamins and peptides which elevates the balm and separates it from others. It’s silky on the lips, lasts quite well for a balm and does feel like it’s doing my lips some good, especially after I’ve been trying a lot of different lipsticks when it is particularly soothing. It’s HERE.

I rely on your balm reviews and would LOVE you to do a top 10. Ideally one clear and another for tinteds!

I’m glad you said that about the skin care, I am forever finding the rich cream in edits and advent calendars and for the life of me I can’t figure out why it’s so expensive it didn’t appear to do anything special at all!

Hard to justify the prices sometimes (often) x
