This is the first of what I am sure will be many in the emerging gel-peel market. One of the absolute faffs of gel nails is getting the colour off, but this peelable version, if it’s working as it should, gets rid of that whole time-consuming part of gel nails.

The two shades here, Classic Red and Love Secret are super-glossy. You still need to cure them though under a UV lamp, and I’ve yet to try it to see how it works, but it’s a very interesting idea.
I’m on the fence about whether peelable polishes are damaging to nails – nail techs say no, everyone else says yes, so I reckon it’s a question of degrees. If you have weak and damaged nails, I’d say, stay away, but if your nails are tough as, er, nails, then you should be fine with moderate use. There’s also another product that you can use as a base which apparently helps the peel to be more efficient, but my immediate question is that if they’re efficiently peelable why do you need another product to make them peel even better?

I’m in the professional nail industry and have been for over 20 years and I can honestly say that peeling off anything from the natural nail plate, is damaging. That’s not my opinion, it’s fact. Even if you can’t see to the naked eye, the keratin layers that have been ripped off with the peel, ing off of product, it IS happening and it WILL thin the nail plate for sure, with prolonged use!
Like the name though!
Which is why I suggest moderate use.. 🙂
I’ve got pretty tough nails but peel off polishes etc make me uneasy. You are going to take some nail with the polish as if it wasn’t stuck to the nail it would peel off immediately. I think it could be a bad idea for anything more than a one-off. Even moderate usage would worry me, personally.
As I’ve told you before I have a bad habit of nail peeling, so this appeals to me big time – eek! I have a regular Alessandro polish which is really gorgeous – must swatch it soon.
