I love the concept of the Bath Junkies stores – too few dotted across America, but there is one in Manhattan – and it’s something that could really work over here too. Their philosophy is one of customisation, and it does beg the question of why we actually want to bath/moisturise/shower in other people’s scent perfection, when if we could customise our own we probably wouldn’t choose anything with basil in it. Bath Junkies offer phosphate-free bubble bath, mineral-oil free moisturizers, talc-free liquid powder, exfoliating salt scrub, spa tub-safe bath crystals, alcohol-free body mist, SLS-free shower gel, head-to-toe body wash and conditioners, anti-bacterial handwashes, and a full line of pet products and you pick your own combo of fragrances from a range of 200 which are then custom blended in store. They’ll even tint your choice to match your bathroom (for the OCD’s among us). Fragrances are split by type – i.e. citrus, botanicals, fruits & veg, florals and more…including the Different Strokes containing such oddities as Chardonnay, Snowstorm and Sunshower.
