As everyone probably knows, colouring books for grown ups are a thing. But, I didn’t find any that I really wanted to colour in until I had a Twitter chat about them and someone recommended Zoe de Las Cases Colouring Books. When I was young, I used to doodle all the time, but mainly dresses and shoes, or hair and faces and I suppose if we’re embracing our younger selves with colouring in then it can’t just be any old thing to colour in. It’s more likely that you’ll enjoy the things you enjoyed as a child, if you’re going to do this as an adult. I actually quite enjoy it for keeping me off my phone. I think we’re all now programmed to not be able to do one thing at once, so doodling in front of the TV is a good replacement for scouring Instagram or Twitter all evening.

I’ve recently bought two of the Zoe de Las Cases Colouring Books – Paris Secret and Japon Secret both of which have enough shoes, dresses, coats, hats, perfume bottles (I mean, come on, kudos to the lady who gives us Chanel perfume bottles to colour in!) to keep me interested, but also architectural interpretations, patterns, street scenes and animal life. All in all, they’re the best colouring books I’ve found, so they’re my accessory Wednesday top tip for a) limiting social and b) being busy and relaxed at the same time. Zoe de Las Cases Colouring Books. They’re from £6 ish on Amazon HERE.

  1. I have recently got into colouring books, they really help me relieve stress. Right now I am colouring in Millie Marotta’s Animal Kingdom, but I love the look of this one since it is fashion and beauty based. Will definitely have to get my hands on this.

  2. I have to confess I just don’t get this craze, I just don’t. I think it’s great that it’s a source of relaxation. But I’d never sit on public transport and get my book and crayons out and start colouring in. People would think I was a bit….special. You get loads of people posting their achievements on Facebook…and I can’t get past the ‘my three-year-old grandchildren do this’. That said, I’m all for relaxing outlets that don’t involve technology!

take my advice dont sit and do it for too long you hold yourself stiffer than you think doing it and I ended up with really bad back pain id never had before…so much for relaxing myself hey!!!!!

I have the Paris one and took it on holiday with a tiny water colour palette. Really enjoyed it and v relaxing! Not so easy finding the time now I’m home again.

  5. I have more than one colouring book. I rarely get time to actually use them, but I know they’re there and that makes me happy.
