Accessory Wednesday: Hand Chains

I’m completely besotted with hand chains and the stores are going to be absolutely laden with them over the next few months. I bought the one above today at Top Shop for about £12 where they’ve got a really good and well priced selection.

I seem to have made my fingers look ultra-short in the top picture – I’m sure they aren’t so short! The thing with hand chains is that you have to get one that fits – if there is too much slack at the bracelet end it all bunches up and looks silly. I noticed that Top Shop have some with an elasticated bracelet band so you can wear it as far up the arm as you need to to make it look more flush against the hand. Although I love this one, I’m always going to need Mr BBB to fasten it on the tightest notch for me because it’s impossible on my own.

Some other designs I looked at (and will probably end up buying) are below:

I really, really wanted the eagle chain but it was just too loose on my wrist so I couldn’t make it work in a ‘tidy’ way. The above are all about £10.

you need a trip to leicesters golden mile, authentic indian hand chains. stunning!

  3. You should take a trip to India for some gorgeous hand chains. Known as haathphool, they originate from Rajasthan and are typically worn by brides (I wore one with five chains – one running to each finger!). Each of the chains represents the strength of a specific goddess who a bride can call on to protect her new family. Also, it’s believed that they press against various nerves on the wrist and fingers to create energy and recharge mind, body and soul 🙂
