This is a very indulgent Accessory Wednesday – obviously sweets aren’t really accessories (sweetie necklace? am I pushing it?) but I couldn’t let the world’s most beautiful sweeties pass by without finding a place for them on the blog.

Delice

It’s maybe not too much of a surprise that these opulent beauties have been in Dubai for some time although their origins are Tunisian – Delice creates the most incredible edibles – almost too beautiful to eat.

Delice

They’ve been described to me as marzipan for those who hate marzipan. And that’s exactly right – this is something else entirely. Usually, the marzipan we find commonly in the UK contains a high percentage of sugar – it’s the other way round in these floral morsels – 85% roasted almonds with just 15% sugar. A whole other thing. You’ll also find pistachios, hazelnuts, rosewater, white chocolate, fresh strawberries – you name a delicious thing and you’ll find it here!

Delice

Delice is a family business – the owner’s mother still teaches traditional methods and secret recipes to the food technicians that make the sweets. I’m pretty sure it’s not a PR machine story that she insists that feelings are put into the marzipan – some people do ‘feel’ for food – it’s like a sixth sense, I’m sure of it.

Anyway, the news for us here in the UK is that Delice has just launched at Harrods. You’ll need to count your pennies – these are just over £10 for 4! The more I look at the Delice brand, the more I’m sure there’s some beauty in this – like Laduree. I mean, wouldn’t you snap up a daisy lip balm? Or a floral encrusted palette. And, thinking about the price, I just laid down a very similar amount for some Florentines in Fortumn & Mason (the best Florentines!) yesterday so maybe for those really special things, it’s not so much. Although it is ten bags of Mars Mix which I’m slightly obsessed with!
